Twenty footballers from Bede’s School in Upper Dicker, enjoyed a pre-season trip to Madrid, Spain, to hone their football skills ahead of the start of term.

The boy’s enjoyed a tour of the 80,000 capacity Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, the home of the mighty Real Madrid, and then watched Real Madrid draw 2-2 against Valencia.

Additionally, the team had an amazing opportunity to train at the outstanding Real Madrid training complex, with one of their world-class coaches.

Alongside the training, the squad enjoyed fixtures against local sides EF Moratalaz and Juventud Sanse.

The fixture against EF Moratalaz found the game fast paced end to end, with Bede’s being the eventual winners thanks to goals from Isaac Drogba and Captain Matt Pickering.  The match against Juventud Sanse, an Atlético Madrid partner club, saw Bede’s dominating the game from start to finish, winning 3-1, with goals from Tommy Trenaman, and again Isaac Drogba and Matt Pickering.

Mr Caryer, Head of Football at Bede’s said: “The six days together not only allowed us to make a lot of progress in our play, but also enabled us to develop that team spirit and friendships which are key for the season.”
