Pupils from Bede’s Prep School and Bede’s Senior School played a starring role in the Sussex Women’s County Cricket Awards night.

From the Prep school Matilda Collins won the most improved cricketer of the year for the U11 team, and Izzie Atherton won the batting award for the U12s. Izzie Atherton was also part of the Bede’s boys team that won the U12 County Cup this year.

From the Senior School Polly McCarthy won the U17 batting award after a very successful and consistent season. Ariana Dowse won both the U15 batting award and also the Player of the year for the Sussex U15 team, and is regarded extremely highly as a wicket keeping all-rounder. It was also announced that Ellie Robinson was selected for a full England Development Day. All three girls also play for the boy’s senior teams at school.

Bede’s Cricket coach Neil Lenham said: ‘’We are very proud of the achievements and awards presented to our pupils who work tremendously hard throughout the year. Girls cricket through both schools is growing in depth and strength.’’
