Bede’s Knights House pupils pack Christmas gift bags for the ABC FundDecember 28, 2017
Pupils from Bede’s Knights House travelled to Newhaven to support the ABC (Anne Bickmore Children’s) Fund by helping to pack 100 Christmas Gift Bags for disadvantaged families.
The bags were filled with presents ranging from soap, tea bags and pasta, to Christmas crackers, biscuits and boxes of chocolate.
The ABC Fund, which provides enjoyable opportunities and trips for disadvantaged families in Sussex, has been the Knights House Charity for two years running.
Pupils and staff from the house have been busy fundraising for the charity all year with a range of events, resulting in a donation of £3,500 over the summer.
Plans for further fundraising continue, with a glow in the dark football tournament taking place on 16 January 2018, and a Lower Sixth charity formal dinner joint with Dicker House arranged for 6 March 2018.
Alex Targett, Lower Sixth Bede’s pupil, said of the trip: “It was great to be involved in some of the hands-on effort that goes into making a charity work, which we feel is just as – if not more – important as giving donations. Ultimately, our main aim is to raise awareness of the ABC Fund and help as much as possible.”
