Bede’s welcomes England Cricketer Sarah-Jane Taylor at the SCF U18 Indoor Girls Cricket Festival

December 28, 2017

Bede’s hosted the SCF (Sussex Cricket Foundation) Under 18s Indoor Girls Cricket Festival, during which the current England Ladies wicket keeper and former Bede’s pupil, Sarah-Jane Taylor, gave the pupils a surprise visit.

The event – which was arranged by one of Bede’s cricket coaches and ex England player, James Kirtley – welcomed pupils from Oathall, Millais, Brighton and Hove High School and two Bede’s teams to play in a series of matches.

The schedule of play ensured that every school played one another and benefitted from maximum match play. The matches were played to a music playlist put together by the Bede’s boys’ 1st cricket team.

Petch Lenham, Head of Senior Girls’ Cricket at Bede’s, said: “The girls were thrilled to see Sarah, and she soon became the highlight of the festival. Sarah watched the cricket, and expressed how impressed she was with all the girls’ performances – and the music!”
