Brinsbury cows milk more successOctober 26, 2016
Chichester College is celebrating more glory for its herd of dairy cows, based at Brinsbury farm.
The herd has judged by South West Counties Shorthorn Breeders Association (SWCSBA) to be the best in the region, which runs from Sussex to Cornwall.
This latest victory follows on from a successful outing at the All Breeds, All Britain Calf Show in Worcestershire last weekend (14-16 October).
Brinsbury’s calves won second, third, fourth and sixth prizes at the show – adding more ribbons to the farm’s overflowing cabinet.
Dan Stamper, Brinsbury farm manager, said: “Every year the SWCSBA runs a herd competition, which sees a judge come around to inspect the cattle.
“We’ve previously won prizes for our individual animals but this year we’ve won the overall best herd award, which is amazing.
“We are exceptionally proud of the achievement and it is the crowning glory of what has been a fantastic few weeks for the herd.”
This week’s awards follow the recent successes for the farm’s dairy cows at the Dairy Shorthorn Society Show and Dairy Day.
The Brinsbury farm is a working farm at Brinsbury Campus, the countryside campus of Chichester College.
