College students raise money for Mind charity

Four Chichester College students have raised just over £1,500 for a local mental health charity.

As part of their foundation degree course, the event and hospitality students organised a very special fundraising event – Journey to Joy – for Coastal West Sussex Mind.

The students – Sarah Waddington, Anna Lewis, Lydia Marks and Rhys Clifford – put their knowledge and skills to the test with an evening full of fun and laughter, which combined with cocktails and canapés, ensured it was a night to remember.

Chichester College lecturer Lianne Grogan, who tutors the students, said: “The students have worked so hard for several months to ensure the evening was a success and they definitely achieved that.

“They had a fantastic turn out and to raise so much was amazing.

“They’ve really supported each other. I’m very proud of them.”

Coastal West Sussex Mind is an independent mental health charity. It works to raise awareness and support young people, adults, carers and families affected by mental health issues.

Hilary Riddell, Vice-Chair of Trustees for Coastal West Sussex Mind, added: “It was a brilliant event, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

“Through their fantastic efforts we will be able to continue with our work with young people, which is very much needed and valued.”
