Collyer’s students achieve superb resultsAugust 17, 2017
The College of Richard Collyer has yet again achieved superb results! Students have excelled with an A-level pass rate at an astonishing 99%, with 57% achieving grades at A*/B.
In a number of A-level subjects the results are particularly outstanding. Further Maths posted a 100% pass rate with 92% at A*/B, Art Graphics had a 100% pass rate with a staggering 89% of students achieving A*/B, 100% of Dance students passed with 82% at A*/B, with 70% of Art Textiles students also gaining A*/B.
In addition, 69% of A level Maths and French students achieved A*/B, 100% of Chemistry students passed, 68% at A*/B, and in Economics 66% achieved A*/B; 65% of Travel and Tourism students achieved A*/B, while 64% of Geography and Geology students also A*/B.
In A level Psychology 62% achieved A*/B, A2 Photography had a 100% pass rate with 58% achieving A*/B, 58% also achieved A*/B in History, while 57% achieved A*/B in Government and Politics and Spanish.
Collyer’s excellent quality of vocational course provision continues, with great results in Level 2 and 3 BTEC Diploma Art, Business, Early Years Education (EYE), Sport and IT. At Level 3, 100% of Business students achieved a High Grade (Distinction to Distinction*), 89% of Art and IT students respectively achieved High Grades (100% passing), while 86% of Sport also achieved High Grades. 100% of Early Years (EYE) students achieved A* to C, with 74% at A*/B!
Collyer’s Principal Sally Bromley said she was extremely pleased with the outstanding results. “Many congratulations to all our students on another set of outstanding results. Collyer’s staff worked so hard to ensure students were well prepared for the new A level linear examinations. A 99% pass rate and 57% of all grades achieved at A*-B is truly outstanding. A record 13 students have also achieved the A* and A grades they needed to secure places at Oxford and Cambridge universities.”
Noteworthy individual successes included Ed Hundleby, who prior to Collyer’s attended Reigate Grammar School, who achieved an astonishing 4 A*s in Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry and Physics. Ed is now set to start Natural Sciences at Selwyn College Cambridge. Sanmay Kanumakala, formerly at Warden Park School, has achieved A*s in Maths, Chemistry, Further Maths and an A in Physics and is now set to study Maths at Oxford; Lizzie Hall, who will study Maths at Imperial and previously attended the Weald School, achieved A*s in Maths, Further Maths and Physics; Ex Forest student Charlie Maclean, who will now move on to study Computer Science at Kings College, Cambridge, achieved straight A*s in Maths, Further Maths and Computer Science. Also Cambridge bound is Esme Cairns, who previously attended Burgess Hill School for Girls. She is set to study Law at Christ’s College, having achieved A*s in History and Latin, and A’s in French and EPQ. Former Millais pupil Rachel Bowld will now study Chemistry at Oxford, having achieved A* in Biology, and A’s in Maths, Further Maths and Chemistry.
