Farlington jazz workshopMay 16, 2017
Farlington School’s fourth Jazz Workshop for instrumentalists took place on Saturday 29th April. Pupils from local Prep and Primary schools worked with music teacher, Brian Dallimore, to develop their musical performance, improvisation and composition skills.
The children worked effectively together to create an original piece of jazz music over a hip-hop drum beat. This included sections of the music where pupils improvised ‘conversations’ on their instruments. Pupils performed the final piece to an audience of delighted parents at the end of the morning.
One parent said, “Our daughter had a really enjoyable time. She said it went so quickly as it was so much fun, but she learned a lot! She has already said she wants to go again next year!”
Farlington holds regular workshops for primary aged children who have achieved Grade 2 or above on their instrument.
