Golfer George selected for British Swifts team

February 8, 2018

Hurst College’s golf team captain George Mills has been selected, as one of just eight elite UK schoolboy golfers, to take part on the prestigious Swifts Tour of the US during the Easter holiday.

The Swifts Golf Tour is an exchange programme between the UK and the Eastern States of the USA.

A team of eight British schoolboys, selected from 105 independent schools, tours the USA each Easter in ‘even’ years, and a reciprocal US team tours the UK in the summer of the ‘odd’ years – this event has taken place since 1968.

Throughout the two week tour, Upper Sixth student George, will play on some of the great American courses including Baltusrol, Congressional and Pinehurst amongst others.

“Many congratulations to George for being selected for this tour as one of the best schoolboy golfers in the UK. As well as being an elite golfer, each selected team member also has to be personable and capable of blending into a happy and disciplined tour party”, said Will Carroll, Hurst’s Master-in-charge of Golf
