Lancing College’s mock referendum

June 29, 2016

Lancing College Preparatory School at Hove have organised their own mock referendum with all pupils and staff being invited to take part.  So far, over 90% of the children have placed their vote, with the polling station closing at 3.30pm today.

The children have been preparing for this day for weeks now, with campaigners from both camps working tremendously hard.  Members of our ‘In’ campaign were able to attend a rally headed by Jeremy Corbyn who spoke about the various reasons for why we should remain in the EU.  After his speech, pupils Oscar P, Finn & Archie P, briefly met with the Labour leader who was impressed with their efforts at school and wished them well with their campaign.

On Thursday 26th May, the School welcomed Steve Bell, a senior member of the local ‘Out’ campaign, who took part in the performance assembly with members of our mock referendum out campaigners.    Representatives from both campaigns attended the EU Debate at Lancing College recently which featured prominent    local political figures.  The debate was highly informative and enjoyable.
