Ramble for Children in Need raises £1,500November 29, 2017
Children and staff from Burgess Hill Girls school in West Sussex put their best feet forward for Children in Need when they organised a sponsored ramble over the Sussex Downs which raised over £1,500 for the BBC Charity.
Undeterred by the prospect of aching muscles and blisters, 55 of the school’s Years 7 and 8 pupils set out from Clayton accompanied by teachers who joined the fundraising effort. The 10-mile route finished in Lewes.
Head Liz Laybourn said: When BBC’s Countryfile presenters suggested a ramble as a way of raising funds for Children in Need, we jumped at the idea. With the beautiful Sussex Downs so near to the school, we were spoilt for choice as far as routes were concerned. The £1,500 the girls and teachers raised is a really impressive contribution to a fantastic cause.’
