Wonderful new drama studio for Lancing Prep Worthing

November 1, 2017

Lancing Prep Worthing has celebrated the opening of its brand new Drama studio in fine style. A light and airy space of some 75 sq m, the studio is an attractive, cedar-clad building with bi-fold double glazed aluminium glass doors that will enable its use as a performance area for an outdoor audience in the summer months.

The performing arts are a real strength at the school and it was wonderful to welcome back Charlie Granville and Sam Pucelli, who both attended the old Broadwater Manor School some 20 years ago, to cut the ribbon and declare the space open.

Sam and Charlie are now part of ‘The Noise Next Door’, an acclaimed comedy ensemble that has been performing at the Edinburgh Fringe for 10 years, appeared on TV, at the London Palladium and worked with top comedian Michael McIntyre.

They recalled with much laughter their time at the school, where their love of comedy and performing was first nurtured and they formed lifelong friendships that have enabled them to go on to carve out careers together in the entertainment business.

The Prep school children were treated to some fine musical performances by three very talented singers from Lancing College, sisters Kitty and Gigi C and Ella H who is also a Lancing Prep Worthing alumna. Two of the Prep School’s own talented musicians, Nerea K-M and Bradley H also demonstrated their prowess and a group of Year 4 pupils delighted the audience with their tale of ‘The Computer’s swallowed Grandma’!

Head of Lancing Prep Worthing, Heather Beeby, is delighted with new Drama Studio: “The performing arts are of huge importance to the life of our school and bring countless benefits to all our pupils throughout their time with us. The new studio is a welcome addition to our school campus, which is being constantly improved and upgraded, and opens a whole world of exciting opportunities for our growing number of pupils to explore their creativity.”
