Bede’s Senior School’s production of ‘The Laramie Project’
A group of Sixth Form pupils from Bede’s Senior School in Upper Dicker travelled to Edinburgh to perform their production of ‘The Laramie Project’ at the world-famous Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
Written by New York-based theatre company, Tectonic Theatre Project, ‘The Laramie Project’ is based on true events involving the violent killing of University of Wyoming student, Matthew Shepard in 1998. The play includes excerpts of real-life interviews with people of the town, and explores the media attention and opinions surrounding the hate crime.
Meghan Longden, Upper Sixth pupil at Bede’s, says: “The trip gave me an insight into what life could be like as a working actor, and really inspired me to pursue the performing arts for fun as well as at Drama College in the future. I will never forget my first time at the Fringe, and I sincerely hope that it won’t be my last.”
