Bede’s Senior School in Upper Dicker welcomed local community groups for two very special afternoon tea events in the school’s Recital Room in June.
On Thursday, June 6, Bede’s hosted its annual Senior Citizens’ Afternoon Tea for members of Heartease and the University of the Third Age. One week later, on Thursday, June 13, 100 ladies from the East Sussex Federation Women’s Institute enjoyed an afternoon tea in celebration of their centenary year.
Guests at both afternoon teas were entertained with musical and dramatic performances by Bede’s pupils from across the year groups.
Sandra, East Sussex Federation WI member and guest at the centenary celebration event, said: “Thank you very much to all involved, not only for staging the event but for the warm and generous hospitality we received. As I watched the pupils perform so confidently in front of the Bede’s school banner with the motto ‘a place for all of us to rejoice in our differences’, I thought how that reflected the ethos of the WI too.”
Robert Scamardella, Director of Music at Bede’s Senior School, said: “We were honoured to welcome members of the local community for two very special afternoons, and are incredibly proud of our pupils for volunteering their time to perform. These important events form just one part of Bede’s work with and for the local community.”
