Bede’s Legat Dance School welcomes West End performers

May 15, 2019

Legat dancers at Bede’ Senior School in Upper Dicker were treated to a special West End workshop with former ‘Cats’ performers Tom Dwyer and Katy-Jo Murfin.

Ms Emma Manes, Teacher of Dance at Bede’s Senior School, said: “Tom and Katy-Jo put our First Year to Lower Sixth pupils through their paces in the four-hour workshop, where they learnt the original choreography from the Jellicle Ball and developed ‘Cat’ characters. Tom and Katy-Jo brought a fun energy to the Legat studio and the pupils worked incredibly hard.”

In addition to ‘Cats’, Tom and Katy-Jo have appeared in numerous West End productions including ‘42nd Steet’, ‘Steppin’ Out’, ‘Aladdin’, ‘Shall We Dance’, ‘Carousel’ and ‘Mary Poppins’.

The Legat pupils are now looking forward to a ‘Mary Poppins’ workshop with Tom and Katy-Jo, as well as a three-day workshop with Luke Jackson, who will visit straight from the West End tours of ‘Strictly Ballroom’ and ‘Kinky Boots’.
