Bede’s Sixth Form Pupils Triumph in Art and Design Competitions

July 10, 2019

It has been an exciting time for the Bede’s Art and Design department, with several of the school’s talented Sixth Form pupils winning prestigious competitions.

Lower Sixth Bede’s pupil Wynn Puttima has been announced the winner of East Sussex College Hastings (ESCH)’s photography competition, which welcomed 150 entries by A Level and GCSE pupils from five schools from across the South East. Wynn’s winning photograph featured as part of the exhibition at the ASpace Gallery, School of Art and Design.

Ema Excell, Head of Photography at Bede’s, said: “We are delighted that Wynn has won this prestigious competition with his wonderful photograph, which truly captures the essence of the ‘My Home’ brief. Wynn works incredibly hard, and Photography will continue to be Wynn’s main hobby away from his academic subjects. It is fantastic to see his dedication to pay dividends. Well done, Wynn!”

For the second year running, Bede’s pupils have been selected to exhibit at the Cardiff School of Art and Design as part of the ‘Ceramics Excellence Awards show’. The exhibition featured more than 40 pieces of ceramic work from pupils in Years 9 to 13 across the UK. Pieces from Bede’s pupils were very well received, with Gleb Sharabinskii and Gui Green (both Lower Sixth) receiving commendation awards from the judges.

They have all worked extremely hard to create some wonderful pieces of work, and we are extremely proud of their achievements during the first year of their A Level course.”
