Crawley College, part of the Chichester College Group, has been announced by the National Skills Academy Rail (NSAR) as an official member of the National Network of Colleges, part of the National Training Partnership.
The college has strong history of delivering apprenticeships and this, alongside the range of resources and facilities, meant the college was considered to be ideally placed to add rail qualifications to its suite of courses.
The NSAR is a rail-industry membership body that represents the interests of the rail sector, working with employers to ensure they have a skilled workforce that can meet their needs and their National Network of Colleges helps to signpost employers to high quality education providers.
Vicki Illingworth, Principal of Crawley College, said: “This is the latest step for us as we work towards providing our local area with the skilled workforce of tomorrow.
“We are passionate about developing our curriculum, ensuring our learners are continuing to meet the skills and employment needs across the whole rail industry, from the technical engineering to business operations – we can offer it all at Crawley.”
Shelagh Legrave OBE, Chief Executive of the Chichester College Group, added: “We are delighted to join the National Network of Colleges.
“We place employability at the heart of our learning and are proud to work closely with employers across our area, and beyond, to ensure that our curriculum supports our students and ensures they are gaining the skills and experience required in their chosen industry.”
Membership to the National Network of Colleges means the college will be able to work with other further educations colleges who have experience of working collaboratively with employers, as well as a wide understanding of the UK rail industry and its needs.
Neil Robertson, NSAR Chief Executive, said: “It’s with great pride that we recognise the Chichester College Group joining the NNoc, part of the National Training Partnership.
“Chichester College is known for high quality training which is further demonstrated by Chichester’s ‘outstanding’ rating by Ofsted. I only see good things for them in the future.”
